Sierra Nevada National Park
The Sierra Nevada National Park is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, many species of which are found only within the park. Stroll across the broad slopes covered in broom, watch golden eagles and Spanish ibex in their natural habitat or just marvel in the wide variety of eco systems created by the park's proximity to the Mediterranean coupled with Europe's second highest mountain range.
The ski resort at Solynieve is a 40 minute drive away and from late November gives you the opportunity to enjoy the most southernly ski slopes in Europe.
Las Alpujarras
On the south side of the Sierra Nevada range can be found the enchanting villages of Las Alpujarras. Whitewashed houses cling to the hillsides and provide ample opportunities to sample the local produce like the famous jamon serrano of Trevelez, Spain's highest inhabitated village.
